I haven't done a blog in a while & that's mainly from a high combination of lazy & life mixing together in a ball of strife. It's been a great couple of weeks for gaming though, but I don't think I have any solid reviews to put forth yet. One or two which will be coming up soon, but not finished yet. Well, what have I been occupying my time with?
First & foremost... Star Ocean: The Last Hope International. Finally got this beautiful baby for the PS3 & I am in love. With several hundred (literally) hours on the 360 version, I knew I would love it again, but I didn't realise how MUCH I would love it again. It's so much better & it will be one of the reviews I do in the coming weeks. Expect a lengthy review for this one Another game I have been enjoying is Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, but other games have grappled my attentions away from it... I will be picking it up again soon. It's such a great game! More so this week & last I have been playing a load of MGS4 & Silent Hill: Homecoming.
I know, I know I have already achieved all there is to achieve in the 360 version of Homecoming, but I really don't care. It's one of those games that I enjoy so much, I am willing to play through it many times. Regardless of how many times I have actually played this game... Homecoming still manages to have my white knuckled hands gripping my controller in fear The PS3 version is way nicer than the 360 version, but still as I mentioned in one of my posts a while ago... TOO GODDAMN DARK. Yes, yes... darkness = ambiance = sense of fear, but come the fuck on. When I have to manually turn my actual tellys brightness to 75 just to see where I am fucking standing? My only qualm about this game has always been the darkness. Why the fuck do you have a flash-light even? Seriously the only difference it makes is how quick the schisms hack your face off.
Actually, Homecoming on the PS3 brings me nicely into a topic that seems to be furious & wild among the owners of both PS3 & 360's... achievements & trophies. It turns out that there are quite a few games which have achievements on the 360 but don't have trophies on the PS3. Homecoming being one of those (another, for example, being Enchanted Arms). I realise some people are achievement whores & trophy whores, but I honestly don't give a fuck either way. As I've said before, I play a game for the gaming experience. The achievements/trophies act as a sort of roadmap for me to determine if I've found everything in a game that there is, so I can get the whole of the experience intended in the game. Apparently, though, this is some mad big issue. I find it highly hilarious. Sure, it's a bit lazy that they don't bring over the achievements into trophy form, but it's not a big deal. If you're playing a game JUST for achievements/trophies then you are somewhat lacking in the gamer category to me. You're not really a 'true' gamer... you're just a cheevo whore.
I've also been playing some WoW which is a nice change after a while of not playing it. Cataclysm is coming out in Dec & I am looking forward to it. Flying in Azeroth? Fuck yeah.
