I decided to do a small write up on the games I'm currently playing. First of all I'll mention Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. It's so nice to be able to play this game & what is even more surprising is that it just gets better when you add more people. I know, shocking right? I believe you can have up to six people working together on a level at any given time (in your private party), but even if you're going about it solo, you can still make a good lot to beat the levels boss. Adding more people just makes it more fun. It reminds me so much of playing not only the DS games, but SotN as well. Castlevania: HoD is a great buy & well worth the points.
The second game I played this week was Limbo. Wow, I did not expect this one. I knew it would be good, but was a little hesitant to hit the buy button. Was I ever an evil monster for not getting it sooner. Limbo is short, yes... only a few hours, but the ambience, the design, the creepy, crazy, surreal atmosphere... it's so engulfing. I can't believe how much I enjoyed it. Not your average puzzle game, but definitely one of the best I have ever played. Being an explorer, I managed all but one of the achievements on my first play-through without even checking what they were.
Thirdly, I have been working into the 50th hour of Dragon Quest IX & I am still enjoying it a lot. The story is par for the course for a DQ game & the game-play lives up to the name. I'm probably not as far as I 'should be' for the time I've put in, but as mentioned earlier, I am an explorer & I have been alchemericalising to my hearts content. I love every minute of this game... except the minute... no.... except the five minutes it takes to get Zing to actually cast. Sigh.
Now the point of this post... I have decided to start again on Resonance of Fate. It's a hard game. Now, I have heard many people say it's too hard or it's crummy, but in all honestly, if you picked up this game because you thought it was interesting only to think it stupid after trying it, you're probably not giving it what it takes to play a game like this. I'll save a lot of what I have to say for my inevitable review of it, but give it a try. Learn the combat; if you do that I guarantee that you will find the game more enjoyable. You can't just jump over everything, firing willy nilly & expect to profit. RoF doesn't work like that & if you have any experience with any other tri-Ace game, you will know this already.
RoF is an encompassing game full of beautiful graphics & wonderfully told storyline. Yes... there is a story & if you'd play the game past chapter one you'd see that. Edging out the movement on the map has a unique feel to it, as well as working to attain bonus' in combat areas through terminals. Augh, again I will save most of this for my review, although that will be a ways off as I can easily see myself going 100+ hours in this game. I am already nearing 32 hours & I have only been playing it again for a few d
